Abstract
In this paper we consider the phase and shape evolution of a light pulse that propagates through a birefringent crystal with second-order nonlinearity. We assume the incident light wave to be linearly polarized in the way that at the input of crystal the ordinary and the extraordinary waves are generated. In this case the second-harmonic generation is the result of three-wave nondegenerate interaction (the process of type II). We assume also the process to be phase-matched Δk = k(2ω) - k1(ω) - k2(ω) = 0.
