Abstract

Recent years Er:glass lasers attract more attention due to their " eye-safe" radiation. The objects of special interest are Q-switched lasers with an output energy of up to 8 mJ as eye-safe emitters for laser rangefinders and lidars. One of serious imperfections of these lasers is their rather low efficiency. In this connection laser-diode pumping seems perspective. However, as far as we know, the efficiency of such lasers realised to date is still rather low and does not exceed 0.8 %. [1-4].
