Abstract
The technique of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy has been successfully applied to the analysis of trace elements within cast uranium metal fuel, used within Magnox nuclear reactors. This form of optical emission spectroscopy is particularly suited to direct solids analysis, where on-line and near real-time measurements are required [1].
