Abstract

In this work is investigated the possibility to elaborate RE (RE= Eu, Er and/or Yb) doped crystallised yttrium oxide (Y2O3) planar waveguide structures Crystalline thin films of RE3+ doped and undoped Y2O3. are grown by a pulsed laser deposition technique (PLD) It is interesting to analyse if crystallised thin films, which produce higher absorption and emission cross sections, are compatible with guiding properties The composition, structure and orientation of the films are determined by the use of Rutherford back scattering (RBS) and X-rays diffraction
