Optical properties of breast tumours determined by a laser-pulse mammograph

Abstract

Time-domain optical mammography allows to derive optical properties of tumours and normal breast tissue robustly from measured distributions of times of flight. From absorption coefficients determined at several selected wavelengths, total haemoglobin concentration and blood oxygen saturation can be obtained.
