Abstract
Recently, V3+:YAG crystal was shown to be efficient passive Q-switch for diode-pumped Nd:YAG lasers emitting at 1064 nm and 1342 nm [1]. Yb:KGW crystal as gain medium exhibits high slope efficiency with diode-pumping at 980 nm [2] and attracts much interest as one of the promising solid state materials for Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS). We report here for the first time to our knowledge on the use of V3+:YAG for passive Q-switching of diode-pumped Yb3+:KGd(WO4)2 (Yb:KGW) laser. Laser emission at two wavelengths simultaneously was obtained due to Raman conversion of fundamental laser emission in the laser crystal.
