Abstract
The nonlinear absorption of transparent organic materials have been studied in the visible range (450-650nm). In the nanosecond regime, the combined effects of two-photon absorption (TPA) and excited-state absorption (ESA) can lead to an efficient overall nonlinear absorption. The design of molecules optimized for both TPA and ESA is of primary interest for optical power limiting applications.
