Abstract
For an OPO operating above threshold, the oscillation frequencies of the signal and idler modes are determined by the phase-matching conditions which depend on the crystal’s temperature and by the resonances of the cavity which change with the cavity length. Hence, one can approach frequency degenerate operation only for specific values of T and L which implies using high precision servocontrols for these parameters. Moreover, whereas the sum of signal and idler phases is fixed, their difference is a free value that leads to phase diffusion for both beams.
