Abstract

The process of stimulated Brilluoin scattering (SBS) using focused pump geometry has been investigated for many years. But until now there are some debatable questions. One of these – the Stokes beam size alterations at the SBS-cell exit with pump pulses energy increase. In our earlier paper [1] we demonstrated (experimentally and with numerical simulation) that for SBS-compression Stokes beam at the SBS-cell exit had smaller size comparing with that of the pump beam. Later [2] from numerical simulations for enough deep focusing the opposite result was presented. That is why in this thesis experimental and numerical analysis of the spatial-temporal structure alteration Stokes pulses during transient SBS has been carried out.
