High power multi mode visible upconversion fiber laser in the red spectral range

Abstract

Applications in display technology and in life science require powerful laser sources in the red spectral range, preferably between 630 and 640 nm. Although laser diodes are available at this wavelength range, they cannot fulfil the power and beam quality requirements. An alternative is to convert the infrared radiation of high brightness infrared laser diodes in a rare-earth doped fiber into bright visible radiation.
