Terahertz pulse generation in ZnTe crystal pumped around the bandgap

Abstract

We generate THz waveforms in ZnTe by optical rectification of femtosecond laser pulses whose photon energy is tuned from1.55 to 2.56 eV. We observed a peak of the THz signal at the ZnTe bandgap energy.
