Abstract
Wideband RF phase shifters have huge potential in beam-steering systems, phased array antennas, and communication systems. Microwave photonics (MWP)-based phase shifters have numerous advantages over traditional electronic phase shifters including a large frequency range and flat amplitude response. Several MWP phase shifters have been demonstrated [1] using stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS), but the performance metrics optimization has not been explored. Improvement in linearity can be achieved by reducing the fiber length [3] and through the anti-Stokes interaction, which further enhances the noise performance [4].
