Abstract

All-optical logic gates offer energy and bandwidth efficiencies, potentially beyond state-of-the-art electronics [1]. Fiber-based optical logic gates (e.g. AND, OR, XOR, and NOT) have been realized with speeds up to 100Gb/s [2]. Generally, such processing tasks are performed using the cross-gain dynamics of SOAs [3] or HNLFs for time-dependent nonlinear polarization rotation or frequency conversion [4,5]. SOAs offer high integrability but suffer from slow recovery. HNLFs provide a simple and power-efficient alternative, but require kilometers of length, resulting in increased latency and instability.
