Visible-Frequency Unidirectional Transmission Device incorporating a Hyperbolic Metamaterial

Abstract

We propose and experimentally demonstrate that unidirectional transmission of visible light can be provided by a reciprocal and passive planar device of wavelength-scale-thickness, incorporating subwavelength-pitch gratings and a hyperbolic metamaterial.
