Optical Communications using Microstructured Optical Fibers

Abstract

The opportunities and advances made in exploiting the unique properties of microstructured optical fibers in telecommunications are reviewed with particular focus on bend-resistant fibers for Fiber-To-The-Home applications and use of hollow-core fibers for low-latency, high-bandwidth data transmission.
