Second Harmonic Generation in Poled Laser-Written Fused Silica Waveguides with Periodic Laser Erasure

Abstract

Second harmonic generation is reported for the first time in femtosecond laser written, thermally-poled silica glass. Poling was periodically erased by the same laser, yielding a quasi-phase-matching SHG efficiency of 2.3×10−5 %/W at 768.4 nm.
