Femtosecond laser writing of 3-D NLO structures in glass

Abstract

Femtosecond laser pulses have been used to precipitate 3-dimensional LiNbO3 structures in supersaturated glass for second harmonic generation (SHG). Measurements for successive layers with parallel and antiparallel optical axes compare nicely with calculations.
