A Polarization-independent directional coupler on a thin-film lithium niobate platform

Abstract

We design a polarization-insensitive directional coupler on a thin-film lithium niobate platform by overcoming the polarization anisotropy. We use it as a Bell-state analyzer for entangling two remote trapped ions and achieve < 99.99% fidelity.
