Abstract

Remote sensing as a field of labor has a number of attractions. In addition to the fun of playing with high-technology gadgets and solving system problems there is the added satisfaction of measuring some parameter Nature has been trying to hide from us. Nevertheless it is occasionally necessary to step back from the immediate, usually narrowly confined problem and place the work in the context of the broad goals of the program we claim to support.
