Abstract

To meet the need of the LAMAR, a high throughput, moderate resolution X-ray facility we propose various alternate concepts in the design and fabrication of Kirkpatrick-Baez nested crossed plate reflectors. The various concepts utilize common as well as state-of-the-art materials. Numerical structural and optical analysis is used to quantify the performance of the proposed concepts. We find that the theoretical performance of certain concepts approach the 0.2 min resolution of a perfect parabola of translation. The concept of an evolving LAMAR experiment will allow the astronomy community to keep pace with the promises of significant discovery and challenge in the years ahead.
