Fast Continuous 2π Phase Modulation using Defect-free Deformed Helix Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a fringe-field-effect-free fast (250μs) continuous 2π phase modulation using defect-free deformed helix ferroelectric liquid crystal (DHFLC) with high efficiency (> 90%) for the first time. It enables ultra-high PPI applications (pixel pitch = 1 μm).
