Abstract
A planar seeded jet is formed by expanding a mixture of 10% C2H4 in Ar through a 20 × 0.05 mm slit nozzle at a stagnation pressure of about 300 Torr. Under these conditions a combination of a roots and a rotary pump is able to maintain a background pressure of less than 200 mTorr. Two overlapping laser beams cross the jet in opposite directions parallel to the long axis of the slit.
