Abstract

The generation of strongly squeezed vacuum at 1064 nm is of potential importance for gravitational-wave laser inter-ferometery. Injection of vacuum with 90% (10 dB) squeezing into the open port of the interferometer beamsplitter could increase the interferometer sensitivity by a factor of 3 at a given laser power, provided that modematching, propagation, and detection of the beams can be realized with near-unity efficiencies. The present state of the art at 1064 nm is 63% (4.3 dB) squeezing.1
