Abstract
We found correlation between optical dephasing time T2 and coefficient of far-infrared absorption α for doped with Nd3+ ordered and disordered (CaF2)|1-x-(YF3)x crystalline systems. We demonstrate that measured by accumulated photon echo technique T2 value decreases from 3.6 ns for single CaF2 to 0.6 11s for mixed CaF2-YF3 (x=0.12) crystal at picosecond excitation of Nd3+ 4I9/2-4G5/2 transition (T=9K). Optical dephasing mechanism for both ordered and disordered [1] systems is described by direct relaxation with absorption of the single phonons of 30-100 cm-1 frequencies and Raman two phonon process.
