Abstract
The study of the random walk of photons in a highly scattering medium can provide information on the optical properties of biological tissues. This phenomenon can be analysed in the time-domain by measuring the temporal broadening of a laser pulse propagating in a turbid medium. To extract the values of the absorption and scattering coefficients experienced by the photons, the photon time-distribution must be interpreted using a proper theoretical model.
