The Value of Force of Radiative Friction

Abstract

The mechanism of radiative frietion is well known: if the mirror moves in the same direction as incident e.m. wave, a flux of incident photons decreases by increasing the light path and thus the force of light pressure depends on the velocity of the mirror. In spite of small value, the radiative friction is a fundamental effect, which should be taken into account in precise experiments such as searching the bursts of gravitational waves using laser gravitational antenna (LIGO project).
