Abstract
It has recently been suggested that an instantaneous optical feedback, suitably filtered at a Fourier plane, can be used to control the behaviour of broad area optical devices [1]. Such an approach can not only stabilise a disordered output, but can also be used to select between co-existing, not necessarily stable, optical patterns.
