Abstract

Superposition of two coherent states (Schrodinger cats) have been studied extensively in the literature. With different motivation superposition of coherent states on a line have also been studied extensively as a method of constructing highly nonclassical states. In this paper we continue our previous work [1] and study the approximate construction of an arbitrary quantum state as a superposition of a few coherent states. In particular we study the effect of quantum interference between the various coherent state components, on the accuracy of the method.
