Abstract
There is an increasing interest in synchronization of chaotic outputs in separated laser systems because of its potential capability for secure communication. The techniques to accomplish the mode coupling between two laser systems is classified into two groups: a master-slave type[ 1] and a mutually coupled type[2]. In the master-slave type a part of the laser output in one laser system is injected into the other laser system unidirectionally, whereas in the mutually coupled type two lasers are connected through one physical parameter (ex. electrical field or population inversion). The former type has been demonstrated mainly in two separated laser systems, whereas the latter type has been applied to many laser arrays.
