Propagation and Decay of Equilibrium Phonon Polaritons

Abstract

Present works on polariton dynamics are mostly carried out using time-resolved technique, which implies excitation of nonequilibrium polaritons and then their “detection” using additional readout beam. A natural question arises whether this technique gives the same results as traditional near-forward Raman scattering, where equilibrium polaritons are studied [1]. It is especially interesting to compare parameters relating to the decay of polaritons, namely, life time (dephasing time) and free path length.
