Abstract

Different computation methods are based on Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) routines to numerically calculate the propagation of monochromatic coherent laser beams [1]. In this work we present a fast computation method suited for broader light sources such as femtosecond laser pulses. It is a FFT-based algorithm implemented on a GPU (graphic processing unit, NVIDIA Titan X) device providing massive parallel computation. This enables the calculation of the pulse propagation in a few seconds. It allowed us to study the spatiotemporal behavior of a novel kind of ultrashort Curved-Shaped Laser (CSL) pulses focused along arbitrary curves which are promising for light-matter applications [2].
