Abstract
High-Resolution Imaging with Single Protein Sensitivity holds great promise for studies of the chemical organization of cellular structures. Variations in the spatial organization of individual biomolecules in cellular membranes can affect their function and/or efficiency. In particular, such investigations are important to reveal abnormalities from the regular spatial distribution of specific membrane proteins in connection with specific diseases, and fundamental cellular processes, e.g. apoptosis, proliferation, or neurodegenerative diseases.
