Optomechanics of Unbound Nanoparticles Interacting with Whispering Gallery Modes of Microspheres

Abstract

Dynamics of a free subwavelength particle interacting with an optical whispering gallery mode resonator are studied theoretically. We show that the optical forces can capture the particle in quasi-stationary orbital motion around the resonator.
