Abstract

In two prior notes1,2 we described an optical technique whereby permanent refractive index changes could be optically induced in a porous glass containing a number of specific photosensitive compounds. The porous structure could then be consolidated or polymer impregnated to obtain a dense non-porous glass while maintaining the index pattern.
