Abstract
Optical fiber communication and electro-optic systems require wide variety of mass-producible lightwave components. However, the fact that conventional micro-optics or even guided-wave planar components need high precision optical alignment prevents us from easy production. In order to avoid this difficulty we proposed stacked planar optics1, where 2-D planar microlens array and optical components are integrated to form 2-D integrated lightwave components. In this paper we present perfomances of improved microlens array and its application to 2-D arrayed branching components.
