Abstract

The degree to which gradient-index (GRIN) elements can be effectively used in optical systems depends partly on the ability to characterize them. This paper discusses measurements of the chromatic dispersion and birefringence made with a multi-wavelength, harmonic phase-shifting interferometer1 on several types of gradient-index glasses.
