Abstract
The doubly forbidden (Vegard-Kaplan,V-K) emission of the N2 molecule can serve as a probe for its interaction with the neighborhood. While the radiative lifetime in noble-gas matrices is affected only by the host, the vibrational relaxation rates in the A state depend strongly on the proximity of other imperfections.
