Abstract

The nature of optical excitations in low dimensional stoechiometric compounds is of current interest. In one-dimensional antiferromagnets (TMMC, CMC)(1) the excitation is reported to be localized. However in rare-earth systems(2) a double-peaked lineshape has been attributed to the dispersion of the exciton.
