4f-Electron-Phonon Interaction and Davydov-Splitting in PrF3

Abstract

In the ionic Rare Earth compound PrF3 we studied several interaction effects between the system of the low lying 4f-electron excitations and the optical phonons, which could be interpreted by a Jahn-Teller type interaction Hamiltonian between the two systems.
