Abstract

Energy transfer in glasses has been a topic of interest for some time,1 but due to experimental and theoretical difficulties there has not yet been a satisfactory description of the processes involved. We have carried out time-resolved fluorescence line narrowing (TRFLN) experiments over a range of temperatures in Yb3+ doped inorganic glasses in an attempt to help resolve this problem.
