Abstract

Monolithically integrated GaAs-(GaAl)As optical circuits have been reported by Merz et al.[1] who integrated an etched-reflector laser and a detector, and Aiki et al.[2] who made a frequency multiplexer by single-chip integration of several DFB lasers. Reinhart et al. have also demonstrated a sophisticated LPE process which is capable of fabricating complex integrated optical circuits [3].
