Abstract

A brief overview of the physics of laser-controlled etching will be given to facilitate understanding of realizable optical and electrooptical structures. A review of demonstrated devices will be presented. This will include high-resolution diffraction gratings, integral lenses and turning mirrors. The status of waveguides fabricated in GaAs/AlGaAs structures by direct laser writing will be included.
