Abstract
Saturation of coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) line shapes via two-photon pumping has been observed for vibrational Q-branch transitions in gas phase nitrogen using a single-axial mode pump and Stokes lasers.1 Saturation and line shapes for the single-axial mode case were calculated by solving the time-dependent density matrix equations for the nonlinear Raman interaction. The results of the calculations showed excellent agreement with experiment.
