Abstract

In both optical and radio astronomy, sometimes one can accurately obtain the modulus of the Fourier transform of an image, but not the Fourier phase. In order to obtain an image then it becomes necessary to solve the Fourier phase retrieval problem. Since the autocorrelation can be computed as the Fourier transform of the squared Fourier modulus, the problem is equivalent to reconstructing an image from its autocorrelation.
