Abstract

Heterodyne receiver photonic integrated circuits (PIC’s), incorporating continuously tunable local oscillator (LO) lasers, directional couplers and photodetectors, offer the potential for dramatic simplification of coherent lightwave technology by eliminating the coupling and packaging of the corresponding discrete devices[1,2].
