Frequency doubling in planar KTP waveguides

Abstract

Recent interest in compact sources of blue light using nonlinear frequency upconversion of infrared laser diodes has led to the investigation of waveguide frequency doublers. Second-harmonic generation has been achieved using Cerenkov phasematching1 and using quasi-phasematching in periodically-poled LiNbO3 waveguides2.
