Abstract

Many applications in integrated optics rely on propagation or detection of a single polarization state of an optical carrier. Thus, guided-wave components with high polarization rejection ratio are required. Conventional devices are usually based on birefringence mechanisms or elaborate schemes for cutting off the TM propagating mode.
