Abstract

Studies of Stark effect on Rydberg atoms have focussed naturally on the continua regions, with important advances on the mechanisms of. ionization, the discovery of Stark resonances… Numerous examples of Fano-proflies arising from the interaction of one or several discrete states with continua of scattering states have been, recorded. This is the key mechanism for understanding the patterns of Stark spectra for nonhydrogenic atoms. Examples of stabilization of states in the continua due to interference effects have also been reported [1].
