Abstract
Over the past few years, successive employment of a colliding-pulse-mode-locked laser in combination with an amplifying cascade followed by a fiber and grating-prism sequence has been crowned with generation of a 6–10 femtoseconds pulse for wavelengths ranged from the blue-green to near infrared. Within these spatial-temporal scales the conventional approximation of slowly varying functions (SVF) loses its justification as the nonlinear optics method of choice, and the development of theoretical apparatus for optical pulses of a few wave-period long is therefore of undoubtful interest.
