Abstract
An erbium-doped fiber laser exhibits self-pulsing behavior [1] when the ion-pair concentration x is large enough (x > 5%). For high concentration (x > 10%), this behavior is observed for any pump level while for intermediate values, it is dependent on the pumping rate. In this case, when the laser is operating on two wavelengths, antiphase dynamics and chaos have been reported [2]. A generalized bistability has been predicted and observed ([3] and references therein). However in all these experimental results, only the temporal traces were recorded. In this communication, experimental bifurcation diagrams will be presented with respect to the pumping rate.
